Who we are
Pythous is an independent online publication run by Umam Ali, a software engineer (BSCS) with 10 years of experience and a deep interest in history and philosophy. Umam writes most of our articles on history, science, mystery and technology — the kind of long reads that answer the question properly instead of skimming the surface.
Our health articles, published separately on health.pythous.com, are written by Shams Ul Qamar, a pharmacist (D-Pharm) with 14 years of experience working with medicines. They explain conditions and treatments in plain language, and are not a substitute for advice from your own doctor or pharmacist.
We also build and maintain a set of free browser-based utilities — calculators, converters, generators, and a world clock — over at tools.pythous.com. Every tool runs entirely in your browser: no signup, no uploads, no data sent to our servers.
What you'll find here
- History — our main focus: long-form pieces on leaders, empires, battles and the early Islamic world.
- Science — plain-language explainers on how the natural world works.
- Mystery — unsolved puzzles and legends, with the evidence kept apart from the speculation.
- Tech — how everyday technology works, plus hands-on guides.
- Health — health explainers, published separately on health.pythous.com.
- Free tools — calculators, converters, generators and a world clock.
